The 20th Annual Umoja Conference presents the Fall Faculty Institute, which is a specialized faculty track for the deeper exploration of the theme,
“Voices of the Future: Elevating Student Leadership and Agency!”
We invite all college faculty to join us for a specialized conference track that emphasizes the importance of culturally responsive pedagogy, counseling, and assessment. Workshops in this institute will demonstrate practical applications of Umoja's instructional and cultural practices, and the African-centered pedagogical framework. This special conference track will leverage innovative thinking and evidence-based principles that accelerate learning and belonging for Black college students, while also exploring ways to diminish the educational inequities impacting student success.
- When is the Faculty Institute? Thursday, October 31st through Saturday, November 2nd, 2024. There will be sessions held throughout each day.

- Who is the Faculty Institute for? This institute is for those who serve Umoja Programs as instructional or counseling faculty. The institute is also for any active faculty member within the California Community Colleges, CSUs and/or UCs. Umoja Program Coordinators are also welcomed to register for this specialized track.
- How much is the registration for the Faculty Institute? Registration is $775, and it includes unlimited access to the Umoja Conference.

- Will this Faculty Institute supplement/supplant the mandatory professional development outlined in the MOU? Attendance at this institute can satisfy MOU mandated training for Umoja Practitioners who teach Umoja Courses or have Umoja Counseling Loads.
